There’s so many angles that I can come at this from, but really meditation carries a lot of baggage for a lot of people, and it’s also something that more and more is becoming as normal as going to the gym. It used to be a time when you had to talk about meditation in hushed tones. What are you doing this weekend? I’m going to a meditation retreat. It’s like, what? You’re going to be silent? You’re going to go crazy. It used to be very unusual to know meditators, and especially in business and academia, but now everybody from rock stars to celebrities to hedge fund guys running big multibillion dollar hedge funds are all meditators.

They’re doing it for a variety of different reasons: health, mental clarity, focus, spirituality. Ultimately, the meditation is the most powerful, one of the most powerful technologies for connecting with what is true, what is real, and the basic reason is because your mind is a set of programs and a swirl of thoughts and filters and concepts and perceptions, and all of it is the content of your consciousness. It’s content.
